Gamecocks Lead The Way Again on 2010 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the fourth time in the last five releases, South Carolina landed the most student-athletes on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. A league-best 109 student-athletes from nine Gamecock teams garnered recognition on the 2010 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive named a total of 938 student-athletes to the 2010 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday.

Alabama was next with 101 winter student-athletes honored. The University of Georgia added 100 student-athletes to the list.

For the Gamecocks, a total of 44 track student-athletes, 22 each from the men’s and women’s programs, earned honors, while 19 from the baseball squad also received placement. The baseball team won the Elite 88 plaque at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., for having the highest team grade point average among the eight teams to make it to Rosenblatt Stadium.

The 2010 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2009 Summer, 2009 Fall and 2010 Spring terms.
