Ray Tanner Encourages Fans to Account for the Weather Saturday

Full House Expected for Eastern Division Showdown

Gamecock Fans:

This Saturday, our football team anticipates your great passion and enthusiasm as it faces 3rd-ranked Georgia. It will be HOT again. Our staff has been working diligently on plans to make you feel comfortable at Williams-Brice Stadium, adding more resources for this week’s game. This includes:

•             More water bottle refilling stations (including large-tank hydration stations), misting stations and cooling locations throughout Williams-Brice Stadium.  Water fountains are also located throughout the stadium.  Please look for these on your way in the stadium, in case you or someone around you needs them.

•             More bottled water sales locations and concessions points of sale and staff throughout Williams-Brice Stadium.

•             Remember that you can bring in one unopened bottle of water into the stadium and it can be refilled at these locations.

•             Heightened awareness of EMS and game operations staff to help fans in need of assistance, including first-aid stations also manned by doctors and nurses.

•             If you are feeling ill prior to entering Williams-Brice Stadium, there is a EMS mobile first aid bus located in the front of the Floyd Building on George Rogers Boulevard.

As you begin your preparations for the big game, please consider doing these things to make you more comfortable to help yourself:

•             Wear breathable and light colored clothes

•             Start drinking water and getting hydrated now in preparation for the game.

•             If your pre-game plans includes alcohol, please remember that it serves as a diuretic in the body, losing the hydration needed to keep the body cool.

If you see someone in the stadium that is experiencing heat stress, please help them by finding the nearest usher or security personnel or by texting “USC” along with the issue and location to 69050.

If you do get to the stadium early, check out “SEC Nation” broadcasting live on the SEC Network from Gamecock Park from 10 a.m. until noon (remember to continue hydrating).  Shuttles are running to and from Colonial Life Arena for the “SEC Nation” show.

You’ve always been there for us. There is no other group of fans that care as much about our school and our teams than you. It doesn’t go unnoticed by anyone who follows college athletics, our student-athletes and coaches or by me.  We will do all we can, but please do what you need to do to take care of yourself on Saturday!

Thank you for being great Gamecock fans. I look forward to seeing you at Williams-Brice Stadium this Saturday.

Go Gamecocks!
